About Suzette
Suzette holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Suzette has over 10 years of experience in transforming human behavior. In her role as the Chief Social Worker of the Eating Disorders Clinic at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, she provided individual and group therapy and supervised staff and students. She transitioned into the coaching field in 2004. Suzette is a graduate of the Institute for Life Coach Training, a certified Peoplemap™ trainer and EQ Mentor. She is an adjunct professor for Anne Arundel Community College Center for Workforce Solutions and Howard Community College, where she teaches Coaching as a Tool for Effective Leaders in the Business and Computer Sciences Division.
Suzette has presented for the American Red Cross of Baltimore, the Junior League of Annapolis, PayStaff, Prometric, McGraw-Hill Construction, Broadcast Sports Television, The National Academies of Science, The National Aquarium, and Pfizer. She has coached executives, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders in hospitals, engineering firms, and technology companies.
Suzette is a member of the Business Opportunity Network, where she leads the Anne Arundel County group, and the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council where she chairs the Events Committee. She writes coaching-related articles for local newspapers and publications. Additionally, Suzette has contributed chapters to three books.
Based on her background and work with eating disorders, Suzette’s personal coaching centers around the emotional issues that impact the achievement of nutrition and fitness goals. Suzette is partnered with Big Vanilla Athletic Club of Arnold, MD as a core member of the Holistic Health Department. She helps clients overcome the emotional roadblocks to making healthy lifestyle choices and living balanced lives.
Originally from the Midwest, Suzette now resides in Annapolis, Maryland with her husband and two American Eskimo dogs, Thalia and Blizzard. She is an explorer, runner, baker, chef, gardener, reader, and continual learner. Two of her core beliefs are finding strength in adversity and creating a family comprised of life-long friends.
Suzette’s Coaching Style
Suzette entered the coaching profession in order to support clients in understanding who they are and assist them in attaining their professional and personal vision of success. Suzette is an empathic listener who is honest and straightforward in holding her clients to a high level of accountability. She provides valuable perspective on situations and upholds clients’ potential even when they have difficulty seeing it for themselves. Her clients appreciate her nonjudgmental approach and sense of humor. Above all, Suzette instills a strong sense of self-worth and possibility in her clients. She says, “I coach with a strong sense of integrity - never ask a client to do something I would not expect to do myself.”
